Momo Cafe
95 8th St NW #100, Atlanta, GA 30309
Close to the beautiful campus of Georgia Tech is a two story cafe with tons of natural light and the most welcoming staff. I found this place on Google Maps when looking for a morning coffee and pastry, and Momo Cafe did not disappoint at all.
For pastries, we tried a scone, sundried tomato croissant roll, and black sesame mochi donut. The donut was my favorite, since it was so chewy and light with the perfect level of sweetness. Their rotating special drinks change often, but we both enjoyed our coffee drinks (also not too sweet!).
I’d be interested to try their ramen sold in the same location, or two of their other restaurants Brush and Cuddlefish.
Botiwalla
Ponce City Market, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE n134, Atlanta, GA 30308
Of course we had to go to Ponce City Market, and I forgot just how large and expansive it was. I’m used to smaller markets like Chelsea Market, but this had multiple levels, a beautiful walking path, and too many shops and food stalls to choose from.
We decided to try Botiwalla after walking by and smelling the delicious food, and it was by far my favorite meal in Atlanta. It was my second time eating here, but the first time was a few years ago (it’s still just as good). The food is inspired by late night street food and Irani cafes in India.
The Masala Smashed Potatoes, Chicken Tikka Roll, Lamb Boti Kabab, Mango Lassi, and Tamarind Cola are currently making me hungry just thinking about it. Everything was outstanding with the right textures and flavors.
Superica
99 Krog St NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
After perusing Google Maps, we were craving Tex-Mex and saw Surperica was only a short walk away. Naively, we walked up without any reservations and had to wait about an hour – which is not bad at all, considering Krog Street Market is attached! We sat and drank wine at Varuni Napoli inside and ate some arancini.
Once we sat down, we were greeted with the lightest and crispiest tortilla chips and salsa. The Sopa De Tortilla soup was perfectly seasoned, and every entree and drink were well balanced. Maybe it was the margarita that made everything taste better, but we were pleasantly surprised.
Cafe Intermezzo
1065 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309
The morning of the wedding, we went out for brunch with some friends before getting ready. Cafe Intermezzo also had a very long wait, but it was well worth it. Their goal was to bring a 300-year-old European coffeehouse to Atlanta, and I would have to agree.
It was quite loud and crowded, but the service was quick. I would try any of the espresso drinks, and the standouts for us were the Smoked Salmon Benedict and Belgain Waffles.
The non-food highlight for me was visiting the National Center for Civil and Human Rights – I highly recommend it and it’s right next to the Aquarium! My partner and I are already talking about going back – Atlanta has an amazing food scene with bright flavors and kind people (and warmer weather than Cleveland 🙂).
